THE IDEA
Funk Coffee + Food is a popular franchise in South Australia, with 12 premises operating and positive sales at each of them. But expansion into Queensland was showing a slow beginning, with the Brisbane store needing a social media campaign to lift its profile.
An animated video campaign was launched offering free coffees at the Brisbane outlet, but only two people took up this offer.
Was this campaign a failure? Far from it. Looking over the sales dockets for the four week period, the business had sold 868 breakfasts. In the same period of the year 12 months prior they had sold just 240.
So the campaign generated enormous engagement over that four week period, and the punters even bought their coffee rather than taking up the offer of a free one.
